We are building our membership base and looking for fiscal members to contribute to the collective for as little as $2AUD/month. Membership entitles you to voting rights to shape the overall direction of the collective, distribution of funds, etc.
We are fundraising to build, launch, and run a Mutual Aid Australia platform for 12 months. This multi-vendor marketplace will allow people to share tools, resources, and services they can offer/exchange with the community, while allowing those in need to directly contact and build relationships with others for support.
The Community Care Fund offers immediate financial support to individuals and communities in need of emergency mental health care, trauma recovery, and other critical well-being services. We are fundraising to train a member of the collective as a Mental Health First Aid trainer.
Rather than perpetuating the top-down approach of traditional charity, we champion a collaborative, reciprocal system where individuals come together in mutual support. Solidarity acknowledges the inherent dignity and strength in every individual, unlike charity where organisations may exclude people who don’t meet certain criteria.
We understand that mutual aid isn’t a substitute for addressing the root causes of societal issues but is a vital tool in the journey toward transforming these systems. Our focus remains on providing essential assistance and solidarity to those in need while actively working to reshape and challenge unjust systems.
We encourage a culture of ‘tools, not just things,’ emphasising the value of knowledge, skills, and resources that enable communities to build resilience. Our approach goes beyond material donations; we prioritise teaching skills and providing resources that empower individuals to support themselves and their communities.
